The Wychwoods Tennis Club competes in various Ladies, Mens and Mixed leagues throughout Oxfordshire.

We currently compete in The Wilson Summer League and Thames Valley Winter Tennis League and confirmed home fixtures have been entered on the Calendar here:

Ladies A Team Summer 2011 Summary:

The Ladies A Team have had a challenging summer in Division 3. We achieved 3 draws, but sadly no wins, though we had some very good matches, and I think we all enjoyed the tennis. We are now 6th out of 7 teams, so may go down a division next year. I would like to thank all players for their tremendous efforts, and commitment. It made running the team very easy! We are always on the look out for new players, so please do get in touch if you are interested.

Ladies B Team Summer 2011 Summary:

Maybe it was that training session with Giles that focused our minds and perfected our ground strokes – whatever it was, things came together for Ladies B team this season and finally we hope to move up having come second in the division. With only 5 matches to play we could not really afford to lose and didn’t - winning three and drawing two matches with it all coming to a head against Bicester on our last (winning) match of the season.

Many thanks to the regular Ladies B team members who deserve this after many seasons of perseverance: Abi Currie, Lara Peniket, Pauline Plant, Tracey Traynor, Sally Walker, Liz Watts, Clare White, Louise Woods and to Sarah Harrity for her successful winning debut this summer.

We are all totally motivated now for a repeat performance this coming winter so watch this space…

Mixed Doubles Team Summer 2011 Summary:

Wychwoods tops Mixed table for second year running!

Wychwoods A is likely to come top of the Wilson Mixed Division 5 this summer, after seven matches from April to August. We lost only one, against Cholsey B, drew against Colston A and won convincingly against Banbury D, Mapledurham, Watlington A, Portcullis A and Benson B.

Team captain jean Kloos would like to thank her committed pool of players who made this possible – Pat Edginton, Giles & Rachel Henderson. Anita & Roger Hollingdale, Hisae Hollingsworth, Anne Powell-Jones, Chris Powley and Mark Saunders.

The team is likely to move up for next summer for the second year in a row.

Weather and some clubs struggling to find teams means that the Mixed Friendlies are still ongoing – right through to 9th October! Wychwoods is doing pretty well with more wins than losses .

Mens 'A' Team Summer 2011 Summary:

We entered the summer season with great confidence after finishing mid – table in Division 1 this winter. After a slow start we finally ended up narrowly missing out on promotion to summer league 2, finishing level on points with Oxford Sports but losing out by a few crucial sets. We recorded wins against North Oxford, Thame, Abingdon, and Oxford Sports.

The Wychwoods squad is now playing very well with excellent partnerships being forged including: Stephen Prew and Simon Lyle, Mark Stratford and Mark Saunders, and Giles Henderson and Peter Barnes. We are very grateful to the support of Andy Muddle and his ‘B’ team who always step in when we are short of players, and in particular Pat Edgington and Julian Ash who played this summer.

My thanks go to all the players for the hard work and commitment they have shown this year.
